Mostly Human Psychiatry offers hyperbolic medication tapering for adults who are ready to stop a medication, feel it is no longer working, or want to reduce their dose. Patients can taper through a compounding pharmacy or learn to do their own hyperbolic taper, with monthly check-ins. This includes antidepressants and benzodiazepines, alongside ongoing medication management.
Support for Coming Off Medication, at Your Pace
We use a hyperbolic tapering process for patients who are ready to stop their medication, feel it is no longer working, or are doing well and want to reduce their dose. What sets us apart: we work with a compounding pharmacy, or I teach you how to do your own hyperbolic taper. We provide the tools, the method, and monthly check-ins specifically for tapering. This includes antidepressants and benzodiazepines.

Is Tapering Right for You?
Maybe you've been feeling well for a while and wonder whether you still need your depression or anxiety medication. Maybe it no longer seems to help, or the side effects have started to outweigh the benefits. Whatever brought you here, you deserve a plan and a provider who takes the process seriously, so you don't have to figure it out alone.
What Hyperbolic Tapering Means
In a hyperbolic taper, each dose reduction gets smaller as your dose gets lower. The brain's response to many psychiatric medications isn't proportional to the dose, so the final steps are often the most sensitive. Reducing gradually, in smaller and smaller steps, is designed to make the process more manageable and more comfortable.
Two Ways to Taper
- Through a compounding pharmacy. We work with a compounding pharmacy that can prepare the precise, smaller doses a hyperbolic taper needs.
- On your own, with my guidance. I teach you how to do your own hyperbolic taper and give you the tools and method to make small, precise reductions yourself, with the same whole-person support along the way.
Monthly Check-Ins, Specifically for Tapering
Tapering is a process, not a single appointment. Monthly check-ins give us time to see how you're feeling, adjust the pace, and pause if something doesn't feel right. These visits are focused on your taper, so the conversation stays on what matters most at that stage. Questions about visit costs are answered on our pricing page.
Antidepressants and Benzodiazepines
Tapering support includes antidepressants and benzodiazepines. Please don't stop either type of medication suddenly on your own. Reducing these medications works best with a plan and support along the way, and that's exactly what this service and our medication management provide.

Getting Started
Care is by telehealth for adults in Virginia, California, Oregon, Washington, and New York. If you're new to the practice, we'll begin with a comprehensive evaluation and a review of your current medication. To book an appointment, visit our contact page or email Aurora@MostlyHumanPsychiatry.com.
